Popular Hyatt Resorts in Hawaii to Book With Credit Card Points

One of the goals many of our Travel Reward University students set when they start to award travel is to be able to fly to AND stay in Hawaii for nearly free.  A trip to Hawaii can be incredibly expensive, but if you can cover the cost of flights and resorts with points, Hawaii is much more attainable and your travel budget stretches so much further!

Earning Hyatt Points for Resort Stays

The easiest and quickest way to cover your Hawaii hotel stays is by earning Chase Ultimate Reward points and then transferring your points to Hyatt hotels. Hyatt is the Ultimate hotel “sweet spot” for award travel - read here to learn why! Because of this, all of the hotels recommended below are Hyatt hotels.

Credit cards that earn points for Hyatt stays in Hawaii:

The World Of Hyatt Credit Card

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

Chase Sapphire Reserve®

Ink Business Cash® Credit Card

Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card

Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card

Chase Freedom Flex®

World Of Hyatt Business Card

*Note that you or your Player 2 must have an annual fee Chase card (the Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve, or Ink Business Preferred) to be able to transfer your Chase Ultimate Reward points earned from any Chase card to Hyatt.

(Once you’ve been approved for these cards and start earning your Chase Ultimate Rewards points, check out this post on how to transfer your points to Hyatt!)

Popular Hotels in Hawaii to Book with Hyatt Points

Kauai:

Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa - A Category 6 hotel that can be booked for 25,000-35,000 points/night. We stayed here in 2023 for 2 nights for just 50,000 Hyatt points and $0 in taxes and fees - the cash price at the time of booking was $1,648.23 for two nights! This resort has some of the most beautiful grounds and pools that I have ever seen. It is located on Shipwreck Beach just a mile away from Poipu Beach, a great beach for snorkeling and seeing sea turtles and seals.

Maui:

Hyatt Regency Maui Resort: A Category 6 hotel that costs 25,000 - 35,000 Hyatt points per night.  We stayed for 5 nights so 125,000 points but the cash price would have been $4,090! This is a wonderful place to stay with a family as it is full of activities and they even have penguins! For a full review of our stay at this resort, click here!

Hana-Maui Resort: A category 6 hotel that costs 25,000-35,000 Hyatt points per night. I LOVE Hana Town and staying a couple of nights in Hana versus driving the road to Hana in one day! A few of my recommendations if you stay in Hana:

  1. Walk 10 minutes from the resort to Red Sand Beach

  2. Pipiwai Trail

  3. Wai’anapanapa State Beach (aka Black Sand Beach) - reservations are required. Go in the morning if you can!

  4. Seven Sacred Pools

  5. Hāmoa Beach

  6. Hana Farms for lunch.

  7. Shaka app - a self guided GPS audio tour to use as you drive the road to Hana

Andaz Maui at Wailea: A Category 8 property that costs 35,000 - 45,000 points per night. This luxurious beachfront resort includes complimentary outrigger excursions, snorkel equipment, guided kayak tours, and more!

Bonus Non-Hyatt option for Hawaii Vacations:

Wyndham Vacation Rentals -  I booked 5 nights at a Vacasa Vacation Rental in Princeville, Kauai by transferring 75,000 Venture Miles to Wyndham to book our vacation rental and paid $0 in fees! The cash price at the time of booking was $2,266.47. To learn more about booking Vacasa vacation rentals with credit card points, check out this post.

Bottom Line

Visiting Hawaii is much more attainable and budget friendly with credit card points! Using Hyatt points book a free stay in Hawaii is one of the most beginner friendly ways to award travel to Hawaii!
