How to Cover Your Travel Purchases with Capital One Venture Miles
Capital One makes it easy to cover any travel purchase with Capital One Venture Miles! Keep reading to learn how you can cover your travel expense with credit card points!
(Note that while transferring credit card points to transfer partners is usually the best way to maximize your points, there are some vacations and travel expenses that just can’t be booked this way. If your goal is to have your vacation completely covered with credit card points, then you may want to take advantage of this Capital One travel eraser!)

How It Works
Capital One allows you to cover a travel purchase by charging your travel expenses to your credit card and then covering the purchase with Venture Miles on the back end. Any purchase that codes as travel can be covered and erased with points afterwards.
Many people utilize this option to cover travel expenses such as rental cars, train tickets, theme park tickets, etc that they can’t cover with other hotel or airline miles to make a trip as free as possible! For example, 75,000 miles will reimburse $750 worth of travel expenses.
Once in the Capital One app, click Explore Rewards & Benefits.
Then select Cover Travel Purchases.
When you select “cover travel purchases”, it will show all of the travel purchases you have made in the last 90 days with your Venture card.
(Note: if you are wanting to purchase theme park tickets like Disney, many theme parks code as “entertainment” and NOT travel, so you would need to purchase your Disney tickets through a third party site like Undercover Tourist or Get Away Today for the purchase to code as travel.)
You then select which travel purchases you would like to erase with your miles. (10,000 Venture Miles would reimburse $100 worth of travel or in the example above, 8,844 Venture Miles covered an $88.44 purchase in the Capital One Travel Portal)
And that is how you can cover travel with miles on the back end with your Venture Miles!
As a reminder, you can get much more bang for your buck by transferring your Capital One Venture miles to reward partners like Virgin Atlantic Flying Club and Vacasa vacation rentals, but discounted/free travel is amazing no matter how you choose to use your miles!
