All About Hyatt Globalist Status
It’s no secret that I love using credit card points to redeem Hyatt properties! (Click here to read my blog post all about earning and redeeming LOTS of Hyatt points for maximum value!) Another way that you can save a TON of money and get lots of nice perks at Hyatt properties is by having Globalist status!
What is Globalist status?
Globalist status is Hyatt’s highest tiered status of their loyalty program and it comes with a lot of amazing benefits!
What do you get when you have Hyatt Globalist status?
Complimentary upgrades at check-in if available (including standard suites)
Late 4 pm checkout
Club access (that comes with free continental breakfast and evening hors d’oeurves daily) or complimentary breakfast for each registered guest (up to 2 adults and 2 children) at participating Hyatt hotels.
Free parking on free night awards
Points advance bookings - you can book a Hyatt stay on points without having the points in your account yet!
You can read the full list of Hyatt Globalist benefits HERE.
How do you earn Globalist status?
You need to “earn” 60 nights in a calendar year. I like to think of “nights” like punches on a 60 punch punch card :)
You can earn nights towards status by:
Staying at Hyatt properties
Holding the World of Hyatt Credit Card that automatically gives you 5 “nights” towards status every year.
Spending on the World of Hyatt Credit Card. You earn 2 “nights” for every $5,000 you spend.
Holding the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card. You earn 5 nights for every $10,000 you spend on the World of Hyatt business credit card.
Other ways to earn Globalist Status
Fast track to Globalist challenges. I was able to earn Hyatt Globalist status from a Bilt fast track challenge where I had to stay 20 nights in about a 3 month period (this offer is no longer available). Challenges like these are not guaranteed every year, but something to look out for as they make earning Globalist status a lot easier!
“Mattress runs” - pay for super cheap Hyatt stays in cash or points and don’t necessarily stay in them over night so that you can earn more nights towards status.
Consider the lower tiered statuses
Discoverist Status - earn with 10 nights in a calendar year or by holding the World of Hyatt credit card. For a list of all of the Discoverist benefits click here.
Explorist Status - earn with 30 nights in a calendar year. For a list of all of the Explorist benfits click here.
Milestone Rewards
The World of Hyatt program also offers milestone rewards as you earn nights towards status. Some of these rewards include club access certificates, free night awards, guest of honor awards, suite upgrade awards, FIND experience credit and more! For a list of milestone rewards and when you earn them, click here!
Bottom Line
Hyatt Globalist status is not for everyone - earning 60 nights in a calendar year is A LOT! You really need to do the math and see if Globalist status is worth the effort to earn based on the travel you have planned. Most award traveler say once they have it, it’s hard to go back and after earning it this year, I agree!
