Review of Impression Moxché by Secrets
Secrets Impression Moxché was the perfect destination for my husband and I to celebrate our 9 year wedding anniversary. One of the newest additions to the Secrets portfolio is this all-inclusive, adults only resort that provides luxury on every level.
Before the resort opened in December 2022, I was lucky enough to secure reservations as soon as award availability opened up, and this resort absolutely lived up to the hype!
Secrets Impression Moxché is located in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, about 45 minutes south of Cancun and the Cancun International Airport.
Location and Booking
Hyatt acquired the Secrets Resorts & Spas in 2021 making these all-inclusive destinations much more attainable for award travelers looking to spend their points on an affordable, luxury vacation.
When this resort first opened their award availability in fall of 2022, I was able to book 5 nights for 25,000 points/night. The room rate includes lodging, food, drink, and activities for two adults. I transferred Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt and booked this stay directly through the Hyatt website.
Standard rates for this property are now 50,000 points per night, but it is still well worth it at this rate, in my opinion. Availability can be difficult to find for this high demand property, but if you can manage to snag off-peak nights, those will only cost 42,000 points per night. Peak nights will cost 58,000 points per night.
Along with the personal and business Hyatt credit cards, many Chase cards earn points that can be transferred to Hyatt, making it easy to earn points for this stay. We utilized sign up bonuses on the Chase Ink business credit cards to earn the points we needed for this stay. The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Chase Sapphire Reserve® are personal card options that could also earn these transferable points for Hyatt.
This beachfront resort is easily accessible by airport shuttle transfer that can be booked through Amstar directly through the resort. We paid $98 round trip for shuttle bus transfer for my husband and I.
Two Resorts in One Location
Secrets Impression Moxché and Secrets Moxché Playa Del Carmen are two resorts on one property that blend seamlessly together, but offer guests varying amenities. When booking as a Secrets Impression guest you will have access to everything on the resort property (including areas of the Secrets Moxché resort). If booking with Secrets Moxché, there will be areas of the resort that you do not have access to as these are indicated for Impression guests only.
Amenities
This resort truly had it all and in 5 days we were barely able to scratch the surface on everything they had to offer.
Part of the magic of being an Impression guest is having access to spaces that are quieter, offer dedicated servers, and you never have to fight for a lounge chair!
Secrets Impression had 3 pool areas that were available only to guests staying in the Impression building at the resort. There was an infinity pool on the top floor (9th) and the 3rd floor, with additional pools on the 9th floor and down on the beach. You can find 2 hot tubs on the 9th floor and one on the 3rd floor, all with beautiful ocean views. We had our own private beach areas as well with lounge chairs and cabanas right next to the ground floor pool. There is no need to reserve a cabana, and when you arrive down at the pools, there are attendants that are happy to make up your lounge chairs, bring you towels, and take your food and drink orders starting as early as 10am.
On the Secrets Moxché side of the resort, which you can also access as an Impression guest, there is a main pool with a swim up bar, a large lagoon style pool, a pool right on the beach, and a rooftop pool on the lobby building. You could also find a few other smaller pools and hot tubs scattered around the property so there was no shortage of places to lay out, hammocks to relax in, or pools to swim in.
If you wanted to take a break from lounging by the pool, the resort offered activities like daily ocean kayak tours, water aerobics classes, yoga on the beach or pool volleyball.
The Dark Horse sports bar provided plenty of entertainment in the evenings or for when you need a break from the sun. The bar had a pool table, foosball, and even a golf simulator. Each evening they had a new activity that anyone could join in on and win some prizes. While we were there some of the nightly events they offered were karaoke, BINGO and blackjack.
While most amenities at this all-inclusive resort were included in your room rate, there were some available for a fee. The spa was available on the Moxché side of the property for all guests to book optional treatments and massages. You could also find additional tours and excursions that would be off the resort property that could be booked for full or half day.
Rooms
When booking a room with points at this hotel you will have the option to book a Signature Suite with a tropical view with either a king bed or two double beds. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a room with an ocean view that had the same room size, layout, and amenities as the original room we booked with points. Although my Hyatt status at the time was only Member, I was lucky enough to be upgraded after emailing the general manager and letting them know we were celebrating our anniversary and I asked for an upgrade if possible.
The Signature Suite is a 947 sq. foot room and was absolutely gorgeous. These rooms were well designed with every comfort in mind.
The first thing we noticed in our suite were the welcome gifts on our plush king size bed. The resort had left us a new beach bag, and his and hers sun hats that we could use during our stay and take home after! The bed was very comfortable and had smart room features nearby that could be utilized to connect you to resort amenities or control the room. A tablet was next to the bed where you could order room service, check on dining options, and view resort events. You also had a control panel on the wall to control the lights, fans, and curtains to your room.
We had a spacious bathroom with double sinks, rain shower, soaking tub, double closets, and a separate toilet area. Each bathroom comes with all the amenities you could need on your stay such as bug spray, SPF 15 sunscreen, bath salts, shower products, a shaving kit, and more.
As this resort is all-inclusive, each room has a mini bar area that is stocked daily. The mini bar had a Nespresso machine, mini fridge with soda, water and beer, a wine fridge with two bottles of wine, and small snacks.
The balcony was our favorite spot in the room as it overlooked the whole resort and had great views of the ocean. The balcony had comfortable sitting areas and our own soaking tub.
Dining
Impression guests have 13 restaurants and 9 bars on the property to enjoy, which gives guests plenty of cuisine and dining options. Of these restaurants and bars, 3 restaurants and 2 bars are only for Impression guests.
There was no shortage of drink and food options by the pools and the beach, and the staff were happy to take and deliver your order. Our favorite spot was on the 9th floor of the Impression building where we could conveniently order drinks and food from the Cielo Impression Rooftop restaurant and bar.
Dining is all-inclusive for guests, with one notable exception: Teodoro. This restaurant offers a formal 7 course tasting menu complete with wine pairings and excellent service. If you book 5+ nights as an Impressions guest, this restaurant is included with your stay. If you stay less than 5 nights this restaurant is available to you at a discounted rate.
We made reservations for Teodoro on our last evening at the resort to celebrate our anniversary and it was an amazing experience. I highly recommend this for a special dinner while you are there!
The best food we had during our stay was definitely their classic Mexican cuisine. During their weekly Roads to Mexico event, stations were set up along the Secrets Moxché side of the property to experience food, culture, and cuisine from different regions of Mexico. This was our favorite food from the entire week and the highlight of the events!
The resort was also very conscious of different diets and restrictions. Before seating you for each meal they asked about any dietary restrictions or allergies, and each restaurant had vegetarian or vegan options to choose from.
Service
The level of service and attention to detail at Secrets Impression was impeccable. All Impression guests had dedicated butlers (one that started their day at 7 and one that stayed until 11) that were there to help coordinate activities during your stay and ensure that you had everything you needed for a memorable experience. We had a WhatsApp chat for the 4 of us to communicate during our stay and the butlers were incredibly courteous and attentive.
Whether you were getting a drink from the bar, relaxing by the beach, or ordering dinner, every member of the staff was helpful and friendly during our stay. Dishes were promptly cleaned up, cabanas and lounge chairs always had fresh towels, and a member of staff was nearby for anything you needed.
Overall Thoughts
The Secrets Impression Moxché far exceeded my expectations and was the most upscale, beautiful all-inclusive resort we have ever been to. While the point price is now fairly high, it is well worth the points in my opinion when you consider all that is included in your stay and the quality of the resort and service.
While the Moxché side of the resort is great for groups/couples of all kinds, I would say that the Impression side of the resort caters more to couples and has a much more romantic aspect to your stay. This resort is an ideal getaway for couples looking to celebrate a special occasion or take a much needed relaxing vacation to the beach. We would happily return to Secrets Impression Moxché!
